Zagare Youth Hostel – “Zagares Viesbutukas”
The public institution; Zagare Youth Hostel - "Zagares Viesbutukas", was
founded in February 2005, with the following objectives;
- To establish a Youth Hostel and to provide related activities.
- To propagate the town of Zagare.
- To organise children and youth camps
- To provide tourism and recreational services.
- To gather the necessary resources for implementing the objectives of the
VI, and to use these resources for the benefit of charity and society.
- Co-operation with other tourism, cultural, sport and recreation service
providing organisations.
Zagare is an historical town, rich in cultural and natural heritage and is
home to one of Lithuania's spectacular Regional Parks. The key constraint on
the town's development is that there are currently no accommodation
facilities in Zagare. The Zagare Youth Hostel has been registered in
Lithuania and Joniskis Municipality will be shareholders in this new public
institution. The Municipality will provide a building for five years and for
this time period; they will also provide wages for three employees and cover
the cost of general maintenance. The next stage in the process is to apply
for EU structural funds to get the building renovated and furnished to meet
the international youth hostel standards.
